The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library (MBRL) is opening its doors to the public today, offering an unparalleled experience in the Mena region’s largest library. Spanning 54,000 square meters across seven floors and housing 1.1 million books in 30 languages, spread across nine libraries, there’s something for everyone to explore. Here’s everything you need to know before planning your visit.

 Entry to the library is free, but visitors must register at https://mbrl.ae/ or download the app. The library operates from Monday to Saturday (excluding Friday) from 9 am to 9 pm, with Friday timings from 2 pm to 9 pm. The library remains closed on Sundays, and children under five years are not permitted entry. Although membership rates have not been announced, officials assure that it will be budget-friendly.

How to Get There: The library is conveniently accessible by metro, with the Creek station being the closest stop. For those traveling by bus, Dubai Bus route no. C04 stops at the Creek Metro Station. If arriving by car, take Al Khail Road (D68) towards Sharjah and follow signs for the Creek Metro Station and Mohammed Bin Rashid Library. The premises offer a nine-story underground parking area for visitors’ convenience.

The Nine Libraries Inside MBRL: The library boasts nine specialized libraries catering to diverse interests:

General Library: With over 100,000 books covering various topics like history, health, and science, this library appeals to all.

Emirates Library: Explore rare collections of photos and books about the UAE, including works by citizens and residents.

Young Adults Library: Offering a wide range of titles, from manga to literature, this library aims to engage youngsters of all interests.

Children’s Library: Designed with colorful interiors and a play area, this library houses 17,000 titles curated for children of all ages.

Private Collections Library: Access to this library’s rare and private collections requires special permission.

Maps and Atlases Library: Discover rare maps and atlases from around the world, perfect for geography enthusiasts.

Media and Arts Library: With 24,000 titles covering art, music, cinema, and more, this library includes a media room for documentaries and theater pieces.

Business Library: Explore books on accountancy, entrepreneurship, economics, and management, with dedicated study areas.

Periodical Library: Browse through a unique collection of magazines from the 1950s for research purposes.

What to Expect: The MBRL aims to become a cultural hub, hosting events such as book launches, author talks, and writing workshops. Visitors can book these events through the app. Unlike traditional libraries, the MBRL encourages a relaxed atmosphere, with lively events on the ground floor and quieter spaces on higher floors. Boat services from Dubai Festival City and movie nights at the 500-seater theater are planned for the future. Initially, access will be restricted to residents and registered visitors via the app for the first three months to ensure a smooth launch, with full capacity operations expected after the summer months.
